Maribel, a returning client to Erica J Mitchell LLC celebrates a senior executive role in her career in real estate as VP of Mortgage Lending with new headshots (our Classic Package) at our Natural Light Studio in Portland Oregon.

We created new headshots for Maribel at our studio in NW Portland, Oregon using the natural light techniques. We moved through 2 different outfits and multiple poses in the minimal space. We used bounce cards and modifiers to add light and shadows to achieve this look.

Team headshots are individual professional mini photography sessions to capture the individuals of a company. Use team headshot sessions to update your company’s website or to onboard new hires. These sessions require two staff members for team headshot pricing. Team headshots are created in our studio, outdoors or on-site at the client’s office for easy coordination.

Behind the Scenes Lighting

Our strobe flash lighting set up on-site

Behind the scenes look at our lighting set up for shooting BKC headshots on-site at their office in Beaverton, Oregon.

For our lighting we used a single strobe flash setup with a 5ft umbrella modifier and a white background behind the subject. We used a single white V-flat to fill light and flag modifier card to block any artifical light coming in from the side, our posing stool and apple boxes.

Retouching and adding backgrounds

Included in the price of the headshot is the session, studio rental and one image selection from the proof gallery, unless you select a invidual session like the Classic. All selections from the proof gallery are retouched for final delivery.

Our client requested a solid colored background to match the branding and website.

Tips For A ERAS® Medical Residency Headshot Photo (2025)

What are Residency Student Headshots?

Residency Headshots are professional profile photos used in applications for medical students and graduates. For the application process there are specific requirements that an applicant must follow for submitting a profile photo know as ERAS®.

“ERAS® has specific requirements for uploading an application photo. Ensure you understand these requirements in advance and let your photographer know exactly what you need.” Source AAMC

Who uses the ERAS® photo requiremnts?

“After medical school students will need to apply and match to a residency program in which they learn their chosen medical specialty such as Family Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Pediatrics, and more. There are 154 specialties and subspecialties!” UT Health

“The Photo is most often used by programs to help identify applicants when reporting for an interview. Applicants must upload their own Photo in the MyERAS portal by selecting Upload New Photo in the Actions column.” says AAMC on their Documents for ERAS® Residency Applications page.

What are the ERAS® Medical Residency application photo requirements?

ERAS® photo file should not exceed these requirements:

  • Dimensions: 2.5 in. x 3.5 in.
  • Resolution: 150dpi
  • File Size: 150kb

How Much Do Doctor and Residency Student Headshots Cost?

Professional Doctor and Residency Student headshot pricing starts at $325, depending on factors like location and number of photos needed.

All packages include
•  Session time
•  Studio rental
•  Number of high resolution fully edited photos delivered to you in an easy online gallery

Pricing is based on the amount of time used to photograph in a session, which determines how many images you will have to view and select from in the proof gallery. The amount of final retouched photos received in the package. You will receive final high-resolution retouched images in multiple crops and file formats for easy use.

To book a session, a 50% deposit is required. Payments can be made through Square, Paypal or check.

Behind the scenes look at our lighting set up for shooting the Historical Research Associates Inc.’s new company team headshots on-site at Skamania Lodge.

For our setup we used at single strobe flash head with a 5ft umbrella modifier using the natural background of the Skamania Lodge gardens, a single white V-flat and flag modifier card, our posing stool and apple boxes.

Our strobe flash was set so we could achieve a well lit subject and natural light background. As the light changed throughout the sessions we would change our camera and strobe flash settings to match.

We photographed the new member of the legal team at Janet Hoffman and Associates law firm on site at their office in downtown Portland, Oregon.

For the new headshots of each lawer for the team at Janet Hoffman and Associates, we matched the background of the existing headshots previously made by another photographer. Using the same background can provide consistency to all the headshots without having to make new ones for each staff member. 

For our set up we used a 5ft umbrella with a diffuser on a b10 strobe flash head for the headshots. We lit the subject so that the background environment of the city during the day would come through. Using the same equipment will allow for future sessions to blend seamlessly with the photos already made.
