It brings me so much joy to see people get together to connect and the amount of energy at this past Mixer was no exception. We had over a hundred people pass through! The buzz of networking was sound to my ears.
To sum up, we had two Alumni show their portfolios along with seven sponsors from the community, ranging from retail to organizations specifically for photographers. As a bonus, we had a conceptual photographer who used her work for a local tarot deck show her prints. In addition to the alumni and sponsors, we had the poetry club at the mixer. The members wrote poems reacting to two photographs which were hung for others to read write about–live–during the mixer. Lastly we had our free-to-enter raffle, which was filled with awesome prizes for any level photographer to appreciate; free memberships, gift cards for printing and photo retail, prints and more.
In conclusion, I want to thank everyone who came for engaging, it was wonderful to meet excited-passionate people. You are inspirational!
Until next time. Enjoy a view of the Spring PDX Photo Mixer!

I took off on an adventure to execute a Photowalk Scavenger Hunt for a Lensbaby Lens.
Lensbaby, a mostly tilt-shift lens company, offered a unique opportunity for participants of the upcoming event, PDX Squared, to borrow a lens of their choice for ten days. Out of the four lens options, I chose the Compsoer Pro Edge 80 Optic. With a fun tilt-shift, 80mm fixed lens I was able to capture in my usual style, with a flare of blur.
Here are my final five of a 10 item Photowalk Scavenger Hunt.
Product Description
The Lensbaby Composer Pro with Edge 80 is an all-in-one tilt photography solution for Canon and Nikon DSLR shooters. This 80mm f/2.8 lens is compact, lightweight and affordable. Tilting the lens in any direction results in a slice of focus through your image, similar to the tilt effect in a tilt-shift lens. Incredibly versatile, choosing not to tilt the lens will make spectacular ‘straight’ photos – just as you’d get shooting with a ‘normal’ 80mm lens.
